Shane, almost thirty, is the oldest caddie at Hopkinton Country Club by fifteen years. After losing another job to a teenage caddie, he steals money from a club member's locker — Don Simisomo, New Jersey's wealthiest nightclub owner.
Don catches him in the act and hires him as a "Private Dick" to dig up dirt on his wife before their divorce hearing — sending Shane down a rabbit hole of theft, adultery, and heartbreak. No matter what he gets caught up in, whom he pisses off, or how good of a job he does, one thing never changes — Shane is a MOOCH.
"When I was in high school, my friend's dad told me I was going to fail in life because I was a 'Mooch.' Making this film was a dream come true, and I am proud to put my dirty laundry on screen for all to enjoy." — Jeff Ryan, Writer/Director
Ryan has built the comedy around a man who spends his life improvising identities until one of them unexpectedly fits. Shane may be hopeless at adulthood. He is disturbingly decent at detective work.Read the full review → The AU Review — Interview Jeff Ryan on turning an insult into a comedy-noir with ‘Mooch’

Aaron Gillespie (Underoath / The Almost) and Jeff Ryan collaborated to bring a nostalgic tone to Mooch. Ten original tracks inspired by the themes of the film — pop-punk as a genre speaks to the film's core belief: acceptance of one's self.
Live screenings and events are in the works — one-night shows with the soundtrack artists, and more cities to come.
